How do I install and connect VilaNet on Android TV?

On Android TV or Google TV with Android 7 or later, install VilaNet from Google Play on the TV. Approve the TV from a phone that is already signed in, or use your email. Choose a server, select Connect, and allow Android's VPN request. Sony and other Android TVs follow this page.

Before you start

  • An Android TV or Google TV device on Android 7 or later, with internet.
  • An active VilaVPN subscription, plus the account email and password.

Move the focus with the D-pad. Press the center or select button to activate a control. The screen is the same adaptive VilaNet interface as on other platforms, arranged for a television. The core connection actions are the same.

1. Install

  1. From the TV home screen, open Google Play Store or Apps.
  2. Search for VilaNet and open the official listing. Confirm the name matches VilaVPN.
  3. Select Install, then Open.

Google Play is the usual source: VilaNet. Use the official APK only when Play is missing or does not offer a TV build:

  1. On a trusted device, open the VilaVPN downloads page and download the current official Android APK.
  2. Transfer it to the TV by a trusted local method, then open it.
  3. If Android asks, temporarily allow that file manager to Install unknown apps. Turn that permission off again after installation.

Do not install an APK from chat, email or an unofficial site. If an existing VilaNet install was signed with a different key, Android may ask you to remove it first. Removing the app also removes its local settings.

2. Sign in

  1. VilaNet opens on Sign in with your phone, with a QR code.
  2. On a phone or tablet already signed in to the same account, open VilaNet and go to Settings > Account > Sign in on a TV (or point the phone camera at the code). Check the TV name and tap Approve TV. The TV signs in by itself.
  3. For a password instead, select Use email and password, then enter E-mail and Password.
  4. Review Terms of Use (EULA) and Privacy Agreement, and tick the agreement if needed. Read the minimal-data consent and select Allow if you agree. If you select Login before the checkbox, that message appears first.
  5. Select Login.

The main screen opens with the connection controls. Renew an expired or inactive package before connecting. Phone and computer sign-in is in How do I sign in to VilaNet?.

3. Connect

  1. Focus the current server and select it to open Server Nodes.
  2. Choose Fastest under Auto-Select, or the server you want. The app returns to the main screen. Choosing a server does not connect.
  3. Focus Connect and select it.
  4. The first time, Android asks to let VilaNet set up a VPN. Select OK or Allow.
  5. If Android also asks about notifications, choose what you prefer. Notification permission is not the VPN permission.
  6. Wait until VilaNet shows Connected.

How to tell it is connected

  • VilaNet shows Connected.
  • The selected server or location is visible.
  • The TV still loads content over the network.

On this shared layout, a blue server card only means that server is selected. Use the status text, as on a phone or computer. See how to connect VilaNet. The green Connected badge belongs to the separate Apple TV app; do not use it to judge this TV.

To disconnect, focus Disconnect. To change server, disconnect if you need to, open Server Nodes, choose another server and connect again. If focus is hard to see, pause and look for the highlighted border.

Still not working?

  • Missing from Google Play: confirm Android 7 or later, then try the official APK above. If the store is still unavailable, a router can cover compatible home devices. See How to use VilaVPN on routers and OpenWrt or Merlin.
  • The remote cannot reach a control: press Back once, reopen the screen, and move one step at a time.
  • The keyboard covers the form: finish the field with the keyboard's confirm action, then continue with the D-pad.
  • Login fails: re-enter the full email and password, confirm the subscription is active, and keep the exact error.
  • The VPN request was denied: select Connect again and approve the system VPN request. Notifications alone do not grant VPN access.
  • It says connected but content does not load: disconnect, choose another server and connect again.

When you contact support, include the TV model, Android version, where you installed from, and the exact error. Do not send your password. Docs: VilaNet on Android TV.
