The Connected label only means the tunnel is up. It does not mean pages load. Keep the failure as you found it, disconnect once, confirm the same sites work without VilaNet, then reconnect once with Auto Select. If every site fails only while connected, leave VilaNet disconnected and send diagnostics. If only one site or app fails, do not treat the whole connection as down.
Do this first
- While VilaNet shows Connected, note the selected server and open two familiar HTTPS websites.
- Write down the first error in the browser or app.
- Disconnect VilaNet.
- Open the same websites again.
- If they work while disconnected, open Server Nodes and choose Auto Select.
- Reconnect once and check the same websites again.
- If traffic still does not pass, collect diagnostics before you change routing or domain rules.
How to tell it is fixed
VilaNet stays Connected and those ordinary websites load. Then finish Confirm VilaVPN is working.
Only YouTube or Google fails
When other sites work and only YouTube or Google does not, set Domain Strategy to Prefer IPv4. Do not choose IPv4 Only. IPv4 Only can stop some sites from opening.
- Open Settings, then Advanced Settings, and find Domain Strategy.
- Set it to Prefer IPv4. Do not select IPv4 Only.
- Disconnect VilaNet, connect again, and open the site that failed.
On Passwall or Clash, test the official VilaNet app. If only the official app opens the sites, that client is sending those domains direct. See the Passwall note and third-party clients. In the official app, refresh the server list, quit completely, reconnect, and try a nearer Hong Kong or Japan server.
On China Unicom, a connected session that still cannot open YouTube or Google is usually temporary interference or a rate limit on the Unicom exit, not a broken account. Try two or three nearer Japan or Hong Kong servers that are not Unicom entrances, reconnecting each time. If all of them fail, send support the names you tested.
Only X (Twitter) or Chrome fails
When most sites work and only X (x.com) does not, Block QUIC (UDP 443) is often blocking X's HTTP/3 connection, sometimes together with an automatically chosen server. On a Mac, use this same test when TUN is connected, Safari or Proxy Mode works, and Chrome or Brave shows ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED.
- Open Settings, then Advanced Settings, and find Leak Prevention.
- Turn off only Block QUIC (UDP 443). If that switch is not listed, do not change other switches; contact support with diagnostics.
- Do not turn off Block DoT (port 853) and Block STUN in the same pass, and do not change the browser's Secure DNS.
- Disconnect completely, wait 5 seconds, connect again, and open the same site. You can also try x.com in a browser.
- If X still fails, turn off Auto Select, choose Hong Kong, Japan, or Singapore yourself, reconnect, and test X again.
Voice calls are separate. If Google Voice or Discord calls fail, turn off only Block STUN, not in the same pass as the QUIC test. TUN and proxy mode are different; do not change the mode during this test.
Still not working?
- The same sites also fail while disconnected: restore ordinary network access, then test VilaNet again. If VilaNet never connects, see why VilaNet cannot connect.
- Auto Select fixes it: keep automatic selection unless you need a particular location.
- Only one site or app fails: record the exact error and whether it works while disconnected. Do not keep swapping servers. One title that will not play is not "the server is down". See streaming and TV.
- Google says you are in China, or the region is not supported: see Google shows the wrong location.
- On an iPhone, Chinese apps spin on images or video over Wi-Fi: see Chinese apps on iPhone Wi-Fi. Prefer IPv4 on this page does not fix that case.
- Android can ping, but pages do not load: also see Android closes on connect, or ping works but pages do not.
- All traffic fails only while connected: leave VilaNet disconnected. Open Contact Support from Menu with Include app diagnostics on, or sign in and open a ticket. Remove private material from the diagnostics. See Contact support and sending a ticket with diagnostics.
