Start with Fastest in the Auto-Select group. Choose a specific server only when you need its location, or when a troubleshooting step asks you to compare servers. A server name or location is not a speed promise. Automatic selection picks an available server, and it does not promise the same server every time.
How to choose
- Open VilaNet and sign in.
- On the main screen, select the current server card to open Server Nodes.
- In the Auto-Select group, choose Fastest. That group also lists one automatic entry per region. When you need a region, choose that region's automatic entry, or pick one specific server from the list below.
- Groups that are split by protocol start collapsed. Select the group title to expand it. A list that looks empty is not, by itself, a fault.
- After you select a server, VilaNet returns to the main screen. A blue server card means it is selected. It does not mean you are connected. The server list has no Connected mark; the second line is latency.
- Select Connect. The status moves from Connecting to Connected, and the button becomes the red Disconnect. Read the status in the middle of the main screen.
- Test the website or task that led you to choose that server.
Fastest picks the fastest available server at that moment, so you do not have to compare the whole list. The next connection may choose a different server. When you do not need a region, this is the simpler choice.
| Your situation | What to choose |
|---|---|
| First connection, or you do not need a region | Fastest under Auto-Select |
| You need a country or region | That region's automatic entry, or one server in that region |
| A troubleshooting step asks you to compare servers | Switch once and repeat the same task |
| A name looks faster | Do not judge by the name. Name and location do not guarantee speed |
How to tell it worked
VilaNet stays Connected, two familiar HTTPS websites load, and the task you chose the server for works. Do not rely only on the selected location or on the connection label.
Still not working?
- It will not connect: disconnect, confirm ordinary internet works, record the server name and the first full error, try Fastest once, then read Cannot connect.
- It says Connected but pages do not load: read Connected but no internet.
- It is slow or unstable: return to Fastest, compare the same task, then read Slow or unstable connection.
- You are in mainland China, websites open, and a game sticks on login or multiplayer: that choice is different. Read Which node should I use for games from mainland China?.
