If VilaNet is frequently crashing or closing by itself on a Samsung phone, it is usually related to Samsungâs aggressive battery/background management or security features.
Please follow the steps below in order, from the easiest to the most effective.
⸝
1. First â Adjust the recommended Samsung settings
1. Turn off âManage unused appsâ for VilaNet
Go to:
Settings â VilaNet â âManage unused appsâ â Turn OFF
2. Make sure âManage idle appsâ is turned off
Go to:
Settings â VilaNet â Permissions â âManage idle appsâ â Turn OFF
3. Turn off âApp protectionâ
Go to:
Settings â Security and privacy â App security â âApp protectionâ â Turn OFF
After doing this, test VilaNet again.
If it still crashes, continue with the steps below.
⸝
2. Prevent Samsung from killing VilaNet in the background
Samsungâs battery optimization can force-close VPN apps in the background.
1. Set battery usage for VilaNet to âUnrestrictedâ
Go to:
Settings â Apps â VilaNet â Battery / Battery usage
⢠Choose âUnrestrictedâ or enable âAllow background activityâ.
⢠If there is an âOptimize battery usageâ option, make sure VilaNet is not optimized.
2. Remove VilaNet from âSleeping / Deep sleeping appsâ
Go to:
Settings â Battery â Background usage limits / App power management
Make sure:
⢠VilaNet is not in âSleeping appsâ
⢠VilaNet is not in âDeep sleeping appsâ
3. Avoid âUltra power savingâ or extreme power-saving modes
Some models will disconnect VPNs in ultra power saving mode.
Go to:
Settings â Battery â Power mode / Power saving mode
and do not use âUltra power savingâ while using VilaNet.
4. (Optional) Lock VilaNet in the Recents screen
⢠Open VilaNet
⢠Open the recent apps screen
⢠Long-press the VilaNet card icon â choose Lock this app (or similar option)
This can prevent the system from closing it when clearing recent apps.
⸝
3. Clear cache / data and reinstall VilaNet
If the problem started after an update, some old data might be causing conflicts.
1. Clear VilaNet cache
Go to:
Settings â Apps â VilaNet â Storage â Clear cache
2. If it still crashes, clear app data
(This will reset the app, so you may need to log in again.)
Go to:
Settings â Apps â VilaNet â Storage â Clear data
3. Uninstall and reinstall VilaNet
⢠Uninstall VilaNet
⢠Reinstall it from a trusted source (Google Play / official website / official store)
⢠Avoid modified / unofficial APKs.
⸝
4. Check system updates, One UI Home and Android System WebView
On some Samsung devices, known issues in One UI or WebView can cause many apps (including VPNs) to crash.
1. Update your system to the latest stable version
Go to:
Settings â Software update â Download and install
2. Update âOne UI Homeâ in Galaxy Store
Open Galaxy Store â Menu â Updates
If âOne UI Home / One UI launcherâ has an update, please install it.
Some Galaxy S24 users reported that updating One UI Home completely solved game / app crashes.
3. Check Android System WebView and Google Chrome
Open Google Play Store and search for:
⢠Android System WebView
⢠Google Chrome
Make sure both are updated to the latest version.
If crashes started right after an update, you may try:
⢠Uninstall updates for WebView (restore factory version), reboot,
⢠Then update again from Play Store.
â Important: Please do not disable WebView or Google apps completely.
This can cause more apps to crash or make the system unstable.
⸝
5. Advanced: Clear system cache / factory reset (last resort)
If many apps are unstable (not only VilaNet), your system might be corrupted by old settings or backup data.
1. Wipe cache partition (does NOT delete personal data)
Steps vary by device, but usually:
⢠Power off the phone
⢠Press and hold Volume Up + Power (on some devices, also connect USB to PC)
⢠Enter Recovery mode
⢠Select âWipe cache partitionâ
⢠Then select âReboot system nowâ
2. Factory reset / âdouble wipeâ (only if necessary)
Before doing this:
⢠Backup all important data
⢠Reset the phone from Settings â General management â Reset â Factory data reset
⢠After reset, reinstall apps manually instead of restoring a full old backup, to avoid bringing back old problems.
