Can I still use Shadowrocket, v2rayN, Clash or sing-box?

For a new install, use official VilaNet. Sign in with the same VilaVPN account. Do not import a subscription. Shadowrocket, Quantumult X, V2RayNG, v2rayN, Clash, sing-box and OpenConnect are legacy or third-party clients. Keep one only when your current service still provides a compatible configuration and you specifically need that client. Never connect two VPNs at the same time.

V2Ray and OpenConnect no longer accept new subscriptions. A new service uses VilaNet (the store name is VilaX). AnyConnect is only for an OpenConnect service you already have. If the account has no OpenConnect service, AnyConnect will not work. The same app-to-service map is in this existing article.

Move to VilaNet

  1. You can leave the old client installed until VilaNet has been tested. Disconnect it completely while you test. Two clients conflict in their routes and in the system VPN permission.
  2. Download only from these official places: the downloads page, the App Store, Google Play, or the official releases page. Pick the app for your device in Which VilaNet app should I use?
  3. VilaNet is not in the mainland China App Store. Use a non-China Apple ID that you register yourself. Do not switch to a third-party client instead.
  4. Sign in with the same VilaVPN account.
  5. Choose Auto Select and make a first connection.
  6. After ordinary websites load, leave the old client disconnected. Remove it only after VilaNet works and you no longer need its local configuration.

Some nodes appear only in official VilaNet. A subscription link does not list all of them. Older tutorial videos are archived references. Their screens and labels may no longer match. Do not follow an address from an old video. See the third-party client page.

If you still need Clash, v2rayN or sing-box

An outdated Clash build cannot use the current protocols and reports a proxy error. Switch to VilaNet. If you still use Clash, use Clash Verge, which can speak the current protocols, not an old Clash core. When the service page still offers Clash Verge, select it and use the download icon shown there.

One Clash Verge Rev release cannot import a subscription. Update Clash Verge Rev to its current release, or sign in with VilaNet and stop using a subscription link.

The subscription link is off by default. Before you import or update it, open that service in the client area and press Activate. It stays on for 5 minutes, then turns off again. Turn off auto-update. Come back and press Activate before every pull. A pull while auto-update is on can drop the node list. If the client adds the link and shows 0 nodes, Activate first, finish the import within 5 minutes, and update the client to its current release. Some third-party apps do not support the newer protocols, so an old build fails on compatibility.

The node QR code is in the node list on the service page, to the right of the node name. Do not send a subscription URL, a QR code, a password or an unredacted configuration to support.

The PC says connected, and no page loads

When VilaNet on Windows says connected, no page loads, and you are in proxy mode: check whether another Clash-family client is running its TUN mode. That client's virtual adapter captures system traffic ahead of VilaNet's proxy mode, so VilaNet still says connected while pages never pass through it. The usual apps are Clash Verge, Clash Verge Rev, Mihomo Party, FlClash and v2rayN.

  1. Quit every other proxy and VPN completely. Right-click the tray icon and choose Quit. Closing the window is not enough.
  2. Reboot the PC once, so leftover virtual adapters and routes are cleared.
  3. After the reboot, open only VilaNet and connect again. Do not run two VPNs together to compare them.

How to tell the move worked

Only VilaNet is connected, Auto Select is up, ordinary websites load, and the old client is fully quit. If the old client still works and VilaNet does not, keep the exact VilaNet error, confirm the old client has fully quit, and try Auto Select once more.

Still not working?

Continue with what to do when you cannot connect and Cannot connect. If the app says connected and sites do not load, read connected, but sites do not load. When you open a ticket from the client area, do not attach a subscription URL, a QR code, a password or an unredacted configuration.
