VilaVPN Affiliate Program Terms — Attribution Amendment (effective 2026-08-15)

This amendment is part of the VilaVPN Affiliate Program Terms.

Effective date: 2026-08-15 · Notice published: 2026-07-15 (30 days' advance notice)

This amendment updates and supplements the VilaVPN Affiliate Program Terms. Where this amendment conflicts with any earlier statement of the affiliate program terms, this amendment controls from its effective date. All other program terms remain in force.

1. Purpose of commissions — new-customer acquisition

The VilaVPN Affiliate Program rewards affiliates for acquiring new customers. A commission recognizes the effort of introducing someone to VilaVPN for the first time and converting them into a paying customer. It is not a reward for a purchase that a customer would have made on their own regardless of any affiliate activity.

2. Order-time eligibility rule (effective 2026-08-15)

Beginning 2026-08-15, the presence of an affiliate tracking cookie alone does not, by itself, qualify an order for commission. Specifically:

  • An order placed by a customer whose account is more than 90 calendar days old at the time the order is placed does not qualify for a commission solely because an affiliate tracking cookie is present on that order.
  • Orders from genuinely new customers — and renewals of the subscriptions those customers first purchased through a referral — continue to earn commission as described in Section 3.

The 90-day window is measured in whole calendar days from the customer account's registration date to the date the order is placed (time of day is not considered; an order placed exactly 90 calendar days after registration still qualifies).

3. Lifetime recurring commissions are unchanged

Lifetime recurring commissions remain unchanged for eligible services: any subscription ordered while the customer's account was within 90 calendar days of registration, and all services grandfathered under Section 4. When such a subscription renews, you continue to earn the recurring commission for as long as it remains active, on the same terms as before this amendment.

To be precise about the boundary: if a customer you referred later places a brand-new, separate order more than 90 calendar days after their account was created (on or after the effective date), that new order does not create a new commission stream — but it never affects the recurring commissions you already earn on their eligible subscriptions. This amendment narrows only cookie-based attribution of orders by existing customers; it does not reduce, cap, or shorten recurring income on eligible services.

4. Grandfathering of services ordered before the effective date

Any service ordered before 2026-08-15 is grandfathered. Its recurring commissions continue under the terms that applied when the service was ordered, including its future renewals. The order-time rule in Section 2 applies only to orders placed on or after the effective date.

5. No retroactive clawbacks

This amendment is not retroactive. Commissions already earned or already credited before the effective date will not be clawed back, reversed, or recalculated because of this change. The change governs future orders only.

6. Reactivation and win-back campaigns

Genuine campaigns to reactivate lapsed customers or win back former customers can create real value, and we want to reward that work. Such campaigns may qualify for commission on orders from existing customers — but only under separate written approval obtained in advance.

If you plan to run a reactivation or win-back campaign, please contact VilaVPN support to apply and describe your campaign before it starts. Approved campaigns will be commissioned on the terms set out in that written approval. Because the standard order-time rule is enforced automatically, approved campaign commissions are reviewed and credited manually by our team — they will not appear automatically at checkout.

7. Prohibited conduct (unchanged)

The following remain prohibited, will void any associated commission, and may lead to removal from the program:

  • Self-referral — referring your own purchases or accounts.
  • Cookie stuffing — planting affiliate cookies without a genuine, deliberate click by the customer.
  • Duplicate or fabricated accounts — creating or coordinating multiple accounts to manufacture referrals or to re-earn "new customer" commissions.

8. Questions

If you have questions about any part of this amendment, or want to confirm whether a specific campaign qualifies, please contact VilaVPN support before relying on your interpretation — we are glad to clarify in advance.
