How do I install and connect VilaNet on Windows?

On 64-bit Windows 10 or later, install VilaNet from an official VilaVPN download, sign in, choose Fastest under Auto-Select, then select Connect. Approve User Account Control only when the prompt names VilaNet. Windows 7 and Windows 8 are outside what the current installer supports.

Before you start

  • 64-bit Windows 10 or later. The current official installer has no 32-bit build.
  • An active VilaVPN account and the administrator permission needed to install and enable the VPN interface.

1. Download and install

  1. Open the downloads page or the releases page and download the Windows installer.
  2. Do not run a file from an unsolicited message or an unofficial site.
  3. In File Explorer, open Downloads and double-click that installer.
  4. Check the Windows Security or User Account Control prompt. Continue only when it refers to the VilaNet installer you just downloaded. If it asks whether to allow the installer to make changes, select Yes.
  5. The installer is in English. Select Next on the welcome page and I Agree on the license page, and keep the standard components. The default folder is C:\Program Files\VilaNet. Select Install, then Finish.
  6. Open VilaNet from the Start menu. Setup does not open the app.

If Windows shows an unexpected publisher, filename or source, cancel the prompt and download again from an official link above. Do not bypass this warning.

2. Sign in

Sign-in is the same on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. Step-by-step details are in How do I sign in to VilaNet?. On this PC:

  1. The app opens on Login. Register is the tab next to it.
  2. Enter your VilaVPN account in E-mail and Password. The password shows as dots.
  3. Tick I have read and agree to:. The Terms of Use (EULA) and Privacy Agreement are below it. Ticking it opens Allow minimal data to provide VPN service? right away. This is not a failed login. To agree and continue, select the blue Allow.
  4. Select the white Login. Remember me is ticked by default. If you select Login before ticking the agreement, the same dialog opens first; select Allow to continue signing in.

After sign-in the main page opens. An expired or inactive plan must be renewed before it can connect. The official app does not ask you to paste a subscription link.

3. Connect

  1. On the main page, select the current server card to open Server Nodes.
  2. Under Auto-Select, choose Fastest unless you need a specific place. The app returns to the main page. Choosing a node does not connect.
  3. Select Connect.
  4. If User Account Control names VilaNet, select Yes. TUN mode needs administrator permission to create the Windows VPN interface, and the app may restart.
  5. If it restarts and does not reconnect, select Connect again. Wait until Connecting becomes Connected.

Do not approve a prompt for another program. Settings > Connection > Windows has TUN Mode (whole PC, needs an administrator) and Proxy Mode (no administrator; only apps that follow the system proxy). See Does all traffic go through the proxy when V2Ray is enabled? and TUN mode and Proxy mode.

How to tell it is connected

  1. Leave VilaNet open a few seconds. It should stay Connected.
  2. Load two familiar HTTPS sites in a browser.
  3. VilaNet should still show Connected.

Pages that load, plus a status that stays Connected, are a stronger check than an IP-check site alone. A blue server card only means that server is selected; it is blue even when not connected. When connected, the status text in the middle of the main page is a blue Connected, the icon above it turns blue, and the button becomes a red Disconnect. See how to tell VilaNet is really connected.

Windows 7 or Windows 8 will not install

The installer requires 64-bit Windows 10 or later, so Windows 8 is not supported. The current client does not support Windows 7 either. An older client cannot use the new VilaX service and shows no plan. Upgrade to 64-bit Windows 10 or later. From Windows 7, we recommend upgrading to Windows 11.

An existing customer who cannot upgrade can open the connection details page of their service in the client area and use a third-party client as that page describes. That is a legacy path for those who cannot upgrade, not a recommendation for a new install. V2Ray and OpenConnect take no new subscribers. If that client asks for a subscription link, note that the link is deactivated by default: select Activate on the service page first (it stays active for about five minutes) and turn auto-update off before each pull, or the node list can be dropped. Official VilaNet does not use that link. See third-party clients.

Still not working?

  • No VPN interface: exit VilaNet, right-click it in the Start menu, and choose Run as administrator.
  • The error mentions WinTun or the TUN service: reinstall from the official installer to repair the driver. Keep the exact error text first.
  • Sign-in or connection fails: remove extra spaces in the email, confirm the subscription is active and that sites open while disconnected, then try Auto Select once.
  • To contact support, select Contact Support in the sidebar, describe the problem, and leave Include app diagnostics on. You can also open a ticket. Do not send your password.

Then see cannot connect or the Windows docs.
