An IP check shows a datacenter or server address because VilaVPN provides server IPs on a leased line, not a home-broadband exit, and it does not provide a residential IP. A checker that labels the server address as a datacenter matches this service. A residential IP does not comply with Japan's Telecommunications Business Law, so that service is not offered.
Which side the checker sees
With Proxy Chain off, the exit is our server. The checker sees that server address. Checkers often label it as a datacenter, not as a home broadband line.
If you already have a home-broadband proxy of your own, you can attach it in the official VilaNet app with Proxy Chain. The path is VilaNet, then your proxy, then the internet. The exit can then be the proxy you supplied. You supply that proxy. We do not provide a residential IP, and we do not provide the home proxy.
The existing note is Is there a Japanese native IP residential IP?. We currently provide only server IPs.
| Your setup | The exit the checker sees |
|---|---|
| Proxy Chain off | Our server IP. Often labeled as a datacenter |
| Your own proxy validated and saved | The exit of your proxy. We do not promise it is labeled "residential" |
How to add a proxy chain
Open Settings > Connection > Advanced > Proxy Chain. This feature is experimental. If the connection fails, turn Proxy Chain off first and try again.
Supported protocols: VMess, VLESS, Trojan, Shadowsocks, SOCKS4/SOCKS5, HTTP/HTTPS, and AnyTLS.
- Turn the Proxy Chain switch on.
- Choose the input. Share URL is for pasting a protocol link such as vless://, vmess://, or socks://. JSON is for pasting a raw sing-box configuration.
- On iOS, Android, and macOS, Scan QR can read a proxy share link. On other platforms, paste the link.
- Tap Validate & Save. The app checks the configuration. If it is invalid, it shows a clear error. Until that check passes, do not treat the chain as active.
- Clear deletes the saved proxy-chain configuration.
How to tell it worked
- With Proxy Chain off, the checker shows a server address (often labeled as a datacenter), not a residential address.
- After you add your own proxy, Validate & Save reports no error. The path is VilaNet, then your proxy, then the internet. The checker then sees the exit of the proxy you added. We do not promise that the checker will label it "residential".
- If VilaNet stops connecting after you enable the chain, turn Proxy Chain off. If the connection returns, the chain is the problem. The datacenter label is not.
Still not working?
If it still will not connect with Proxy Chain off, see Why can't VilaNet connect?. To send the current setup to support, see How do I open a ticket in VilaNet and attach diagnostics?. Do not paste a full share link or an unredacted proxy configuration into the ticket.
